Telluride’s Mountainfilm Festival\u00a0returns\u00a0this Memorial Day Weekend, May 25th-28th.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Every year for 40 years, Mountainfilm\u00a0floods Telluride with\u00a0filmmakers, activists,\u00a0and outdoor-enthusiasts alike.\u00a0 And each year, new films explore how the environment\u00a0molds individuals and how our collective values\u00a0impress upon the environment.\u00a0 The 2018 festival\u00a0theme is\u00a0Migration.\u00a0 Many of the films and forums\u00a0will take a critical look at the unique stories of political, cultural, and climate refugees.\u00a0 With so many dramatic narratives and amusing shorts to choose from, we handpicked a few of the Mountainfilms we’re eager to see, especially as skiers. 2.5 Million<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

In January 2016, Aaron Rice endeavored to ski 2.5 million vertical feet in one year. And that’s without\u00a0help from rope tows or ski cats–an entirely human-powered expedition.\u00a0 (Vertically speaking, 2.5 million feet is the same as summiting Mount Everest from its basecamp\u00a0more than 200 times.)\u00a0 As he trekked through injuries and brutal storms in Colorado and Argentina,\u00a0 Rice proved that determination is a greater force than exhaustion.\u00a0 Watch the full movie below.<\/p>\n
