A year after boosting their flagship collection, the ARVs and ARWs, with new models, Armada is back at it for 2024-2025. Each line gets a new ski. Classics get updates. And there are new paint jobs everywhere. The ARV 112 gets a poplar core, while the ARW 112 gets caruba. They generally matches the shape updates from last year&#8217;s ARV 100. An ash binding plate beefs up the ski underfoot, and Wedgewall improves durability and reduces weight in the sidewalls. The ARV 112 adds a 192cm size, while the ARW 112 runs from 165cm-185cm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Redesigned <strong>ARV 106<\/strong> and <strong>ARW 106<\/strong>. Both skis get poplar cores and match the construction and shape of the ARV 112. They&#8217;re also the same other than graphics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"2024-2025 Armada ARV 106 Quick Review | Powder7\" width=\"1020\" height=\"574\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LzfXw-uubOE?start=3&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Declivity <\/strong>series gets revamped with new constructions and shapes. First: new <strong>Declivity X 115<\/strong>, <strong>108<\/strong>, and <strong>102<\/strong>. The <strong>115 <\/strong>gets a caruba core and generally a softer flex than the narrower models, plus a titanal binding mount plate underfoot. The <strong>108<\/strong> gets a poplar core plus two sheets of metal that taper toward the tips and tails. The non-metal contact points reduce weight in the tips and tails. No, unfortunately, it\u2019s not a 3D film of wedges and walls, but rather a new innovative way to improve a ski&#8217;s construction. Instead of your traditional sidewall that\u2019s glued straight on the side of the ski, this sidewall is angled where it meets the wood core. This creates a mechanical bond in the mold between the sidewall and the wood core. Overall, Armada finds this increases edge hold at lighter weights and greatly increases durability.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sidewalls already do a big chunk of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.folsomskis.com\/folsoms-guide-to-ski-sidewall-construction#:~:text=When%20landing%20on%20a%20hard,compressing%20more%20than%20it%20should.\">heavy lifting in your ski\u2019s construction<\/a>. They protect the wood core from anything getting in, but they also protect your skis avoid compressions from rocks or rails. If you land on a hard object, the sidewall (usually made from a denser plastic compared to wood) acts as a barrier and prevents the object from compressing the core.
