We&#8217;re talking about the new Salomon QST X. Salomon expands their QST family to bring back a wide powder plank to the collection. With new boots and a few new graphics, Salomon is keeping things moving. The all-new <strong>QST X<\/strong> is the widest QST to hit the streets since the Blank was released a few seasons ago. At 118mm underfoot, this is the widest ski in their lineup. The flex is buttery soft, with loads of taper and not a lot of side cut. The result is a long radius, drifty ski that is dreamy in powder. But don&#8217;t take it from me, Matt&#8217;s been skiing it in powder. Check out his take below. Fit with BOA, with a twist. Salomon adds their instep belt from their other touring boots to have a better fit over the instep. It&#8217;s the same mold as their other <strong>S\/Pro Alpha<\/strong> boots, just with touring features. That means you&#8217;re at a narrow 98mm last. You get 55 degrees range of motion and a new SkiWalk mechanism that locks you in solidly for a progressive flex. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.powder7.com\/ski-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/salomon-skis-2025-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.powder7.com\/ski-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/salomon-skis-2025-3.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.powder7.com\/ski-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/salomon-skis-2025-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.powder7.com\/ski-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/salomon-skis-2025-3-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the bindings, big news with a newly designed <strong>Shift<\/strong> <strong>2.0<\/strong>. Salomon set out to address some of the sticking points people had with the AFD and the brake system. The full rundown of updates from Salomon includes; a new, larger toe lever that &#8220;increases shock resistance&#8221; and gives you more leverage to pull walk mode into place, bigger toe wings for better dampening and suspension, a redesigned AFD that is more reliable, and increases power transfer, a taller climbing aid, and a completely redesigned brake lever that avoids brake disengagement and is easier to lock. Whew!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We need to get our hands on a tech manual and a pair here at the shop, but it looks like they&#8217;ve also lowered the stand height of the binding too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Salomon Shift 2.0 Quick Review | Powder7\" width=\"1020\" height=\"574\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_lHB9YZjtrw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Highlights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Color updates on a few of the QSTs and Stances.
