That ski, my friends, is the new 2013 Icelantic Nomad RKR. If you&#8217;ve ever skied Icelantic skis before, you know that the construction is bulletproof. Honestly I feel like I could drive my SUV over these guys and still have just as spring-y a ski. This year, they&#8217;re even more\u00a0resilient\u00a0with the Carbonium topsheet. With throwing these guys in the back of my truck, carting them around the resort parking lots, and in-and-out of the office (who leaves their skis at home after all?), there aren&#8217;t any scratches on top. The bases are pretty durable too. Even with pretty bare conditions so far, these guys still look good.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.powder7.com\/ski-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/photo-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-1670\" title=\"Katie with Icelantic Nomad RKR Skis at Copper Mountain\" src=\"http:\/\/www.powder7.com\/ski-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/photo-1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"461\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.powder7.com\/ski-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/photo-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.powder7.com\/ski-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/photo-1-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 461px) 100vw, 461px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But we haven&#8217;t even talked about how they ski! If I could put it in one word, it would be ridiculous. No, I mean they are &#8220;ridiculous.&#8221; That&#8217;s the word I would choose. One day I took them out on some fresh snow, forgoing my beloved snowboard to give the 105mm underfoot fatty pow ski a try. All day long I was hooting over how fun they were. People on the chair above were jealous I&#8217;m sure. These skis pop pop popped over all the bumps made by other riders and made the easiest pow turns ever. The RKR (I&#8217;m talking rocker, friends) is unbeatable. I&#8217;d describe it as a long slow rise in the tip and tail which is perfect for that surfy, floaty feel. On the days when I&#8217;ve only been able to jet across groomed runs, these bad boys make me feel like an ex-racer. I roll my ankles and I&#8217;m up on edge. Its the easiest ski that I&#8217;ve encountered so far to do that with.
