So versatile! I have 60+ days on my Cochise 120's now and they're the best boots I've ever owned. I think of them as a full downhill boot with the bonus of tech inserts and a great hike function. I usually ski these at the resort in a downhill binding where they're fantastic and ski like a normal downhill boot. Then, on the flipside, I've skis lots of backcountry days in these in tech bindings and have gone up to 7 miles in them. They're great for that as well and well suited for tours up to about 10 miles. So all in all, they're a pretty amazing do it all boot that fits well to top it off.

I've skied this boot 30 days so far and really like it. Certainly the best thing about it is the technical aspect that it goes in both downhill as well as tech bindings. So I love having one boot that does it all no matter what binding I have.
Everything else about it from a fit and performance standpoint is great as well. I think it feels slightly softer than a 120 flex and feels more like a 110 flex which for me is a good thing as I don't like too stiff of a boot. If you're someone who wants a really stiff boot then look at the Cochise 130 which we also carry.
The width feels average as it should at 99mm wide making for a good fit. Comfort and warmth are good, nothing notable there.
All in all, think of this as a downhill boot with full downhill performance that doubles as a slightly heavy touring boot. It's perfectly apt for a half day in the backcountry. Anything over say 10 miles of touring then I'd go with my lighter Dynafit boots. The range of movement of this boot is huge though so everything is great from that standpoint while touring.
Another note is that this boot is a favorite not only of mine, but of many of our staff. More than half of us ski this boot and we all really like it.

The Best Backcountry Ski Gear of 2019

It sounds crazy. Hiking uphill for a few hours to take one run that lasts all of 10 minutes. "Forget that," bystanders say. "I'll stick to the chairlift." We understand the sentiment. But many of us here at Powder7 subscribe to this crazy-talk—and the backcountry skiing lifestyle. Why? There's just something addictive about earning your turns. The peaceful aesthetic of a freshly painted skintrack. The sense of adventure. The full-body tired and satisfaction as you sip a post-tour IPA. There's a lot to like, without even talking about untracked powder. Ready to ski uphill? Time for some gear talk: And the best backcountry skis of 2019 are... Pow7's Top Picks Black Crows Camox Freebird. Why we love it: The 2019 Camox Freebird is stiffer and lighter than previous models, and ... Continue Reading
