Our Take:
As one of our favorite all-mountain skis, we're psyched to see the Stance 96 come back for 2023. With three models on the men's side and two on the women's side, Stance is no haphazard experiment. It's a full-send commitment to skis that are designed to shred the bejeezus out of any ski resort anywhere. With two sheets of metal, freeride rocker, and an exceptionally versatile waist width, the Stance 96 wants to be direct competition to the famed Nordica Enforcer. These skis are more directional and more aggressive than Salomon's more playful QST range, and built for skiers who want their skis to have some serious guts. The directional shape, mellow rocker, and modest taper indicate that the Stance 96 loves to ski fast no matter the snow conditions. That said, the Stance 96 stops short of being a full-blown expert ski. The top sheet of metal features strategic cutouts, which Salomon fills with blended carbon and flax, a mainstay in the QST line. This keeps the skis from being bulky clunkers and allows us to recommend them to athletic and ambitious intermediates along with advanced and expert skiers.
