Kastle re-made the FX (freecross) series for 2019-2020, and the early returns indicated that they built winners. Four models comprise the lineup, and the FX86 is the narrowest and most frontside-oriented of the bunch. Unlike previous versions, the FX86 is not built with metal. Rather, fiberglass wraps wood in the core, making the skis lighter to maneuver. Also lowering the swingweight is the bigger hollowtech tips (those colorful, bulbous inserts). Hollowtech dampens vibrations and makes the skis intuitive and smooth to turn on groomers, through trees, and down mogul lines. These modifications put the FX86 at the top of the list for any advanced intermediate through expert skier who spends their time charging under the lift line, railing carves, and dipping their toes into the off-piste reaches of their favorite hill. Another premium ski from a premium brand.
