A three step process for making great K2 skis: (1) take your most versatile frontside ski, the Amp Rictor 82 XTi, (2) stretch it out to 90mm at the waist for improved performance in ungroomed snow, and (3) bask in the glory of your success. K2 did it right on this one, blending the top shelf carving performance of the skinnier Rictor with a bigger off-piste chassis for a true all-mountain, do-everything tool. The Amp Rictor 90 XTi uses that wider platform and a tapered, 10% rockered tip to plane higher in the deep stuff, but remains a precise, powerful carver on firm snow and at high speeds. The RoX technology helps there, as the X-shaped carbon reinforcement amps up the torsional rigidity for grip and stability. Is it a carving ski that loves going off-piste, or an off-piste ski that carves like a dream? I guess that is up to you.
