Elan's story begins during World War ll, when twelve craftsmen and engineers manufacture several hundred pairs of lighweight, durable wooden skis for Partisan troops. Formally, Elan is established in 1945 by Rudi Finlgar, a visionary and an audacious ski jumper, who jumps a world record (95 meters) in 1941. The beginning is more than promising, as after only a few years Elan is exporting to the US and rolls out 800 pairs of skis a year.
To celebrate the milestone, Elan put together a historic offer that allows you to own a piece of Elan history. Only 70 packages are being offered in the USA. Each one consists of a specially made Amphibio 88 with PowerLift plate and ELX 14 70th binding, a pair of Elan 70th adjustable poles, and a Wavemaster carry bag with cleaning brush.
The Elan Amphibio 88 XTi is made with Elan's award-winning Amphibio 4D tech to provide a versatile ride for all-mountain skiers who favor power and stability. It's designed to perform in any conditions worth skiing, from iced over steeps to spring crud and pockets of soft snow. The 88mm waist width is a nice compromise, allowing for a bit of float when the snow gets deep, without sacrificing edge-to-edge quickness. Under the hood, the tip to tail laminated woodcore with dual Titanal sheets and full STS angled ABS sidewalls provide plenty of stability and power transmission. Add it up and you've got the perfect all-mountain machine for skiers who dream of rocketing down fresh corduroy while the wind screams past their ears.
