This Ski Is A Staff Favorite:

Black Crows made something pretty special here. If you walk into a ski shop with no idea of what you want or no knowledge of what makes skis different from one another, you probably need a Camox. It is the ultimate do it all ski. While this ski doesn't have outstanding strengths it has zero weaknesses. From the groomers to the trees, all the way to the steeps, this ski will perform everywhwere. Are you an absolute beginner who skis with their boots on the wrong feet? buy a Camox. If you are a nutty cliff seeking crazy person? You'd probably like a Camox. So yeah... give it a whirl. You won't be dissapointed.

This is the first Black Crows ski I ever skied. It was a less-than-ideal snow day. I was at Eldora, of all places. I know, I know. I wanted to avoid the crowds. I was skiing with my buddy Chris, the man with whom I've feared for my life more times than I can count, but he's brought me along on some absolutely insane ski runs. Nothing was special about that day at Eldora except for the skis I rode. The pop. The energy. The stability, somehow. I skied like a madman that day on terrible conditions, and was still able to keep everything together.

Amazing stability without metal. This ski is extremely versatile. It can handle steep, icy chutes, bumps and it absolutely rips on the groomers. Speed limit? What speed limit?

Our Take:

The uber-popular Black Crows Camox returns for the 2023 season unchanged, except a sleek new top sheet update. All we ask for in our all-mountain skis is the perfect blend of maneuverability and stability. Is that too much to ask? Black Crows makes it look easy. With loads of camber underfoot, the Camox is poppy and loaded with energy as you bounce between turns, but rocker in the tip and tail keeps things very easy to whip around when you need to. A progressive flex provides a forgiving and playful ride. We love skiing it in moguls and trees, where having a more forgiving ski generally means having more fun. The Camox links up well on groomers with it’s slightly straight sidecut, and if you like carving and slarving on a ski with more flex, it profiles as a great all mountain match. More aggressive skiers who tend to steer away from more playful skis may take a look at the Serpo or the slightly wider Justis. But for intermediate skiers to freeriding experts, the Camox epitomizes the fun-centric vibe and skiability that has marked Black Crows' rise to dominance. Similar skis: Salomon QST 98, Rossignol BlackOps 98, Faction Prodigy 2.
