This Ski Is A Staff Favorite:

While this ski handles those inbound, steep lines, this ski truly thrives in the back country. due to its lighter build from the poplar core, this thing can be flicked around with ease. From tight trees to steep techy lines, this ski is an absolute performer. The french were really doing something special with their cigerettes the day they designed this bad jackson.

This ski might be marketed as a resort ski, but where I think this really belongs is in the backcountry. It skis supremely well when compared with almost any touring specific ski, while keeping its weight nice and low. This ski is built to hold up to high speed resort big mountain laps, but the pure wood construction makes it a no brainer to throw some touring bindings on, take it out to your favorite backcountry line, and let 'er rip. You won't have to worry about these skis getting squirelly on you. It just works.

What a fantastically well rounded ski, and another ski that was part of our famous Wolf Creek adventure. This was my ski of choice for when the ski area had only reported 3 inches, but we were pleasantly surprised by about a foot. As I have stated in a few other reviews, anything is going to be fun in a foot of snow as long as it is wide enough and has some rocker. This ski felt wider than what it actually is in deep snow and I have also had the chance to take it out on harder snow days earlier in the season, and I was quite impressed. I wouldn't lie to you, there is definitely some chatter at the highest of speeds but really no loss of edge hold. This could be a quiver of one for someone who spends 80% of their time off the groomed trails. The ski shines most in tight turning scenarios like moguls and trees. Also, when choosing a size for this ski, do not be afraid to size up just a bit. I normally am most comfortable in the upper 170's as far as length goes and I rocked the 184cm with ease.

    Our Take:

The ever-versatile Atris returns for 2018 slightly evolved. With Double Beak Rocker and Progressive Sidecut to complement medium camber underfoot, the Atris still pivots on a dime and floats better than most skis at this waist width. It's playful and delightfully surfy. The updates? Black Crows sought to make the Atris even more reliable and stable at high speeds and in variable snow conditions. It's always been a smooth ski, but with a more progressive rise in the tail, an extended sidecut radius, and a slightly softer flex, the Atris now does what it always did--but better. The ski not only survives the hard-snow cruise back to the lift or the variable alpine descent, but it offers a fine-tuned ride. Forgiving enough to be a one-ski all-mountain quiver in the West for a variety of skiers, accessible enough to be a full-on powder ski for light-core rippers, and aggressive and reliable enough to charge the hairiest terrain on the hill.

    Black Crows Atris Reviews:

      Playful and durable!

As a powerful/playful skier, I really enjoy how these skis help me perform through whatever snow conditions and terrain. The 108mm width is perfect for gliding through powder and I've still managed to navigate my way around tight sections of trees, rocks and stumps while maintaining control and stability. They also carve really well on groomers with a quick edge. Overall, these are my go-to skis for any day.
