If you're one of those medium-ugly guys like me, you know you'll need to think outside of the box when it comes to attracting a mate. Where in a Love Island style lineup I'd lose every time, I learned some techniques in college that allowed my potential lovers to see more than just the surface of my gangly frame. My best strategy? I drove a stick shift. Who doesn't want to feel just a little more in tune with their vehicle? "Hey, do you want a ride?" turned into "oh this old thing? It's just a manual transmission. I can teach you to drive it sometime!" turned into "honestly I'm just not ready for a commitment right now, but I'm flattered."
Why am I talking about a stick shift car on a ski review? The answer is that I've never been more in tune with a ski edge than on the Kastle MX series. Where other premium brands like Stockli do a good amount of the work for you, the MX88 requires some clutch punching, some gear shifting, and some ability to drive. She's a stick shift ski, sure. But a stick shift supercar of a ski. Everyone I've talked to that knows anything about skiing has a certain amount of respect for Kastle. Born in the race room, they're fine-tuning their highest performing skis to perfection and they absolutely nailed it with the MX88. I couldn't be happier on any ski condition day with this ski. My stick shift Corolla may be somewhere in a junkyard in Texas right now, but it taught me how to ski one of the most solid skis that my boots have touched.

2024-2025 Kastle Skis Preview

Kastle Skis 2025: The First Look A Paragon of premium. Traditionally known for building premium all-mountain and frontside skis from an Austrian race room think tank, Kastle has been coloring outside the lines the last few seasons. They've added women's models. Updated skis off of their usual two-year increments. Played with constructions. Now for 2024-2025, they kick it up a gear. What's New Paragon, a new all-mountain/freeride collection, replaces FX. Honestly: We think it was time (and we say that as FX lovers). The new skis mirror the chassis from the ZX, but ... Our Take On The 2025 Kastle MX88:

Skis with 88mm waist-widths, like the Kastle MX88, are hotter this year than DIY sushi bakes. Don’t get it? You must not have Instagram. Anyway, the MX88 rages into 2024-2025 with a hot-fire topsheet, a nice departure from the white look of old. Plus, Kastle redesigned the front half of the ski with a new mold to make it quicker and more precise than ever. Don’t be fooled though: The MX88 still packs a punch. Two sheets of metal bring torsional strength and power and long camber ensures strong edge grip. The Kastle MX series has long been a powerhouse with smooth performance second to none. Kastle fans can rest assured that the new version more than holds up.
