From Powder7.com: Similar to the other skis in the MX series, the MX 78 is an all mountain ski. Though the 78mm waist favors carving on piste or groomers, the skis traditional wood core construction with Silver Fir and Ash, as well as two Titanal Layers and full side walls maintains a damp stabile ride through the toughest of conditions. The Hollowtech tip reduces weight of ski by 15% and helps mellow out chatter. This ski is for the advanced to expert all mountain skier who prefers carving the hardpack most of the time.

It is the greatest. I went from a 180cm Kastle Ski from the 80's to 152 cm MX78 and I am loving it. They are lightweight, eastern ice feels like Colorado's groomed slopes, the skis don't rattle when going fast, handels moggles, great in a tree run, haven't been in deep powder with them but looking forward to the experience.
Kastle went into early retirement in 1997 after their parent company, Benetton Group slashed the R&D budget of the 73 year-old Austrian manufacturer considerably. After 10 years of dormancy, in 2007 Kastle unveiled its "Comeback Collection" and turned heads worldwide. In 2010 Kastle showed the skiing world that they are here to stay with a strong display at the SIA Snow Show in Denver, Colorado. Look for Kastle to become one of the most popular brands on the slopes over the next several years.
