The Dhaulagiri, though impossible to pronounce, is probably Dynafit's most verstaile ski for backcountry explorers who want a tool that's also at home lapping the resort. A touch heavier than the perennially popular Dyanfit Denali (1400g vs 1290g in the 177cm size), the Dhaulagiri has a similar 99mm waist width but provides a more damp, playful ride and sturdier construction with full sidewalls. A lightweight core of poplar and paulownia wood is reinforced with carbon stringers for a stable backbone that can handle variable spring surfaces and firm groomed trails--without weighing you down on long ascents. Meanwhile, a medium flex (perceptibly softer than the Denali) delivers surprisingly surfy turns in untracked snow and a more nimble feel in tight chutes or glades. The Scoop Rocker up front helps with floatation, as well, and provides quicker turn initiation. Capped off with a carbon flex tip that absorbs vibrations for smoother turns, the Dhaulagiri is built to handle just about anything a mountain can throw at you. Just don't ask me to say its name out loud.Ski FeaturesCore: Poplar Paulownia WoodCarbon Speed StringerCarbon Flex TipDual RadiusFull ABS SidewallScoop RockerRocker Profile: 430mm Tip, 200mm TailIntegrated Ski-Skin AttachmentWeight: 1400g (177 length)
