This Ski Is A Staff Favorite:

I've been using this ski paired up with the ATK Raider 13 EVO and I love it. It is HEAVY for a touring-specific ski, but I think that is a really good thing in this case, especially if you consider that this ski is built to rip big lines with aggression. I've used this for a mixture of powder touring and slush touring, and could not be more impressed with its performance. It floats super well, and holds its edge when I'm in a dicey situation. It has great shock absorption and dampening properties and doesn't chatter at speed. In slush it has a good mixture of slash-y mobility, but floats enough to keep you from getting bogged down when things have started to get very melty.

Overall, this ski is a great choice if you spend your time touring somewhere where conditions are frequently mixed, but you still get a fair share of powder (PNW, Rockies in the spring). Especially if you are spending your tour days hitting big lines. Also a fun fact for reading this far: Corvus is Latin for raven!

Our Take On The 2024 Black Crows Corvus Freebird:

For 2023, the Corvus Freebird returns unchanged besides a slight paint job update (but don’t worry, the infamous pink look isn’t going anywhere). Over the years, the Corvus Freebird has been a big ski for folks looking for big mountain performance. A directional shape and abundant camber make you feel secure and strong even as you drop into the most puckering lines of your season. Even if that line winds up having some less than ideal snow. While it may not have the pivot-y, full rocker shape of “regular” Corvus, you find a strong flat tail on both, giving the skis extra power to blast into that next big turn. That profile also loves to float through powder, which is usually our goal when going backcountry skiing anyway, The Corvus Freebird is a wild ski for wild people.
